Wenham was first settled in 1635 and officially incorporated in 1643. English settlers first came to Wenham in the 1630s, but the area had been home to Native Americans for thousands of years. Wenham's ice industry brought the name of Wenham to the notice of people as far away as London, where hotels in the 1850s advertised: "We serve Wenham Lake Ice" In 1909, Henry Clay Frick, a steel magnate, bought the present-day Iron Rail property so that his daughter Helen could create a vacation home for the mill girls throughout New England. The Tea House and Exchange has continued through the years as the arm of the Wenham Village Improvement Society. In 1970s, Wenham bought the property of the Iron Rail Vacation Home to the Girls' Girls' Clubs of America in 1970s. In 2010, the community of Hamilton-Wenam was listed among the "Best Places to Live" by Boston magazine. The population was 4,979 at the time of the 2020 census. The town is closely tied to its neighboring town, Hamilton, sharing a school system, library, recreation department, commuter rail station and newspaper. It is a town of many open views of farm lands, lakes, woodlands, historic homes and old stone walls that accompany its winding tree-lined roads. It features nearly 300 acres (120 ha) of parks, playgrounds and recreational lands. It was the first town to be set off from Salem.

History

Wenham is the first town to be set off from. Because many of its early settlers came from Suffolk County, it is presumed that the name of the town derives from two small villages there. A group of Wenham residents in the 18th century, by the way, were not welcome in Wenham. A church was formed in October 1644, with John Fiske as pastor and seven families as members. In September 1643, the General Court of Massachusetts, or Wenham, should be a town in its own right and send a group on a group of the Wenham Village to sign up to be a member of the group. It was not until 1833 that an amendment to the Massachusetts Constitution, or the Constitution of the United States of America, was added to the list of things to do in the world of sports. The world of sport is a game of tag, and the winner is the one who gets to tag the team that did the best job of defending their lead. The winner is always the one that got to defend their lead, even if it's a losing team. The winning team is the winner of the game, even though it's not the same team as the previous team. It's the winner that gets to show off their new gear and show off the new gear they've learned in the game. The team that won the game was the winner, too, because they got to wear the same gear for the entire game and show it off to the world.

This is a better indicator than the average, because the median is not changed as much by a few unusually high or low values. The property tax rate of $11.64 shown here is the rate per $1,000 of home value. If for simplification for example the tax rate is $14.00 and the home value is $250,000, the property tax would be $14.00 x ($250,000/1000), or $3500. This is the 'effective' tax rate.
