Princeton Township is one of twenty-five townships in Bureau County, Illinois, USA. As of the 2016 census, its population was 8,953. According to the 2010 census, the township has a total area of 36.62 square miles (94.8 km²) (or 99.92%) of which is land. The township contains four cemeteries: Elm Lawn, Jenkins-Green, Oakland, and St.toner. It is located in the 11th congressional district of the U.S. State of Illinois is in the 37th state senate district. It has a high school district of 500 students and a community college district of 340 students. It was named after the town of Princeton, New Jersey, which was once part of New Jersey and now part of the state of New York. It also has a park district of 115 students and one high school of 500 pupils. The town is located on the Illinois River, which runs through the center of the township. It contains four major highways: Interstate 80, US Route 6, Illinois Route 34, and Illinois Route 26. The Township has no airports or air strips, but does have a hospital and a heliport. It had a population of 8,952 as of the census of 2010. It contained 4,432 housing units at the time of the 2010 Census, and had a total of 36,432 people living in the township, with 4,431 of those living in housing units as of the 2010 Census.
